I had a student that was contemplating suicide and the only person that seemed to be there for here, really, was a guy of her same age (funny...not her boyfriend). He brought me this problem and asked for help and it was one of the most difficult times of my whole career. After kicking around this riff for years, I sat down and poured into it with all of his frustrations and how he went back and forth between wanting to help her and wanting to give up. She eventually made it through and I gave her the recording as a gift on graduation. Here is the tale of what he was going through right up until the happy ending. It reads sad, it sounds sad, but she lives oh so happy.
